Shooting Bench Plans – The Best Way to Quickly Build Your Shooting Bench

Do you think you need shooting bench plans to build a shooting bench? My friends and I used to go to a sandbox on weekends to practice shooting. We’ve used my bench for years, I didn’t mind. But one day the old bench fell apart and we had to consider buying a new one. So we started shopping, but quickly discovered that they were anything but cheap.

The downside is that there was a friendly competition the following weekend and we really didn’t want to miss that. But since we all agreed that buying a new vehicle was more than we wanted to spend, my friend Bob suddenly had a brilliant idea, which was to build one.

One of my friends is a paramedic, the other is an accountant, Bob works as an engineer and I’m a carpenter, so we thought Bob and I would do it during the week. I had wood to spare so I didn’t mind putting some in, and the other guys would go out and buy the legs and the necessary hardware.

I went to Bob’s on Monday night, actually it was a bad night to come up with a plan because it was Monday night football, and we tried to draw something. I went back Tuesday night and we couldn’t agree on the same idea to build the bench. Wednesday evening I was back and after doing several drawings we realized it was already eleven o’clock.

Thursday, by the way our competition was on Saturday and we still didn’t have a bench, a light bulb suddenly went on in my head. I had purchased a blueprint kit off the internet which contains blueprints for anything you can imagine. So I went to my computer and logged in, wondering if there were any bench shots and yes they were there. I printed them all out and brought them to Bob’s after work.

We found one that we both love and immediately started cutting it out and assembling it. The next day, we put our feet up and here it is, our brand new bench, ready for the weekend. It was a close call. I think without the blueprints we would have gone to a store to buy a new one and spend hundreds of dollars.

My two other friends were amazed to see the finished shooting bench and wondered how we did it. We had a good laugh saying that it took us all week working like crazy on it every night to get it done on time.
