Get to Know the Different Types of Bleachers
The bleachers are not just for sitting. The greatest sporting moments were acclaimed, revered and idolized from the bleachers and grandstands. Having quality stadium seating is essential to creating a top-notch sports ground. Aluminum bleachers provide you with the safety, high quality and durability that are essential for your sports fans to enjoy a game or event as it should be, safely!
Ask about your bleacher options!
- Tip’n’Roll: Indoor basketball tournaments are great fundraisers for your school or indoor recreational facility, and it’s even better when more participants and spectators show up than expected! Making sure you have extra seats on hand for this type of situation is always a good idea! Portable bleachers are perfect for your temporary seating needs and allow you to easily move from event to event! Tip N’ Roll bleachers are easily tipped on swivel casters or attached wheels, for movement while the caster brakes prevent the bleacher from rolling during storage. They also have non-marking footrests that run the depth of the bleacher on either side of the frame that protect your hardwood floors when in use. Tip N’ Roll portable bleachers are constructed with an aluminum frame to reduce weight, making it easy to lift. Casters are not designed for all terrains, so Tip N’ Roll bleachers should be used indoors. They require a capable adult to ensure the bleachers are moved safely, and larger units require more than one person to carry them.
- Not raised: A non-raised bleacher is a basic seating system with a first seat height of 16 inches. When you’re seated in the front row, your feet are level with the ground, requiring no additional walkways or stairwells. This is an outdoor seating system that must be anchored to withstand dangerous wind conditions. These bleachers are available in standard, preferred or deluxe models and may require additional options:
Floor Thresholds: It is suggested that these treated 2 x 6 boards be attached to the bottom of each bleacher frame when a bleacher system is placed on a surface other than concrete. They run through the depth of the bleacher frame and prevent the frames from settling into the surface.
Auger Anchors: Used to anchor bleacher frames to any surface other than concrete (asphalt, crushed gravel, ground, etc.)
Concrete Anchors: Used to anchor bleacher frames to concrete.
- Transportable: Transportable non-elevated bleachers are designed to withstand the rigors of movement at speeds up to 5 mph, but are not intended for use on public roads. They are useful for moving bleacher systems from one playground to another within the same park or recreation area. These bleachers can be moved from court to court depending on where your sporting event is taking place. They are equipped with a galvanized steel lifting brace and additional bracing to stabilize the bleacher during transport. All transportable bleacher units include ground supports, but may need to be anchored to withstand dangerous winds. Each seating system includes wheel mounting brackets and horizontal lift struts. A transport kit (which is do not included with the bleacher system) is required to move the bleachers, but one kit will move multiple sets of bleachers. Transportable bleachers are available in standard, preferred or deluxe models and are the perfect solution for adding temporary seating where permanent year-round bleachers are not needed. All of the above options can be made with an aluminum or galvanized steel frame. You can also choose a vertical picket or chain link railing with any option. The vertical picket guardrail is recommended if used by young children due to the inability to climb the guardrail and the lower risk of children becoming trapped.
- Stadium: You’ve spent weeks preparing your football pitch for the big game. The fans begin to file past and you realize that the customers sitting in the front row only see the back of the champion team! Stadium bleachers are an elevated seating system that provides better visibility for your spectators, solving this problem. Once seated on the front row of these bleachers, your feet are level with the raised walkway. Stadium seating systems come with a standard 36″ rise but can be customized to meet your specific needs. These outdoor seating systems are available with or without ADA seating and are manufactured with a galvanized steel frame providing protection and longevity.
