Avec le film "The Children", Comment es-tu passée d'un rôle glamour à un film d'horreur ?

About the movie the Children – how did you manage to make the switch from a glamorous role to playing in a horror movie ? Was it easy to put Helena aside ?

Rachel Shelley : je crois oui, j'espère en tout cas; cela faisait un long moment déja. J'ai joué Helena en novembre, en décembre, j'ai joué un autre rôle et en février, j'ai joué dans "the Children". J'ai joué aussi une policière. On doit aller de l'avant, lorsqu'on s'immerge dans un personnage, on essaie de laisser derrière les anciens rôles

RS : I think so, I hope so, it has been quite a long time. I played Helena in november, then another role in December and the role in the Children in February, so I managed pretty well. I also played a police woman in a TV show

Est- ce que le fait d'avoir joué un rôle de lesbienne te prive de jouer par exemple une James Bond girl ?

Do you think that the fact you played a lesbian role has excluded you from other roles like for instance the James Bond Girl ?

Rachel Shelley : (rires) non, je ne crois pas. je crois que L Word a été un plus grand succès aux États-Unis qu'en Angleterre, je ne sais pas pour le reste de l'Europe...

RS : (laughs) no I don’t think so I think The L word was much bigger in the States than in the UK, I don’t know about the rest of Europe ….

Justement, comment a été accueilli ton rôle en Grande Bretagne ? Cela t-a t-il fait découvrir aux britanniques aussi ?

Explain to us how is your role proceeding in Great Britain, does it have the same kind of success ?

Rachel Shelley:Je ne crois pas que la série a eu le même succès en Grande Bretagne, Je crois qu'en France, c'est un assez gros succès , n'est-ce pas ?

RS: I don’t think the show has as much of success in Britain as in America and I’m not quite sure but I think it’s quite big in France, isn't it?

Tu as participé à la convention qui a eu lieu à Blackpool en Grande Bretagne, c'était comment ?

You have been at the convention in Blackpool? How was it?

Rachel Shelley: C'était absolument génial, c'était énorme, il y avait tellement de monde, une très très bonne expérience !

RS : yes, it was fun, it was huge so many people, it’s great, we had such a good time, it’s a great experience

C'est étonnant comme choix Blackpool, ce n'est pas très glamour ...

it’s quite surprising it’s organized in Blackpool, is it a great place?

Rachel Shelley : (rires). Blackpool , c'est le plus grand centre de convention en Grande Bretagne, il fallait, ça, Cela ne pouvait être organisé au centre, où il n'y a pas assez d'"hôtels sans oublier que l'hébergement est plus raisonnable qu'au centre ville, la bière aussi est moins chère.

RS : no it’s not a great place but he does it there because it’s the biggest convention centre in Britain I think or that fits his needs whatever it is cause he needs that big ballroom and he can’t get those like in the smaller hotels in London, and the people that come want cheap hotels, the rates are very reasonable and they have a lot of beer. Apparently they drink the bars dry that weekend .

Tu as pu donc rencontrer le public britannique ??

So did you meet the British audience?

Rachel Shelley : Oui mais les gens viennent vraiment de partout et souvent de loin, Australie, Nouvelle-Zélande. Il est d'ailleurs question d'une Convention en Australie l'année prochaine à laquelle je participerai avec Laurel Holloman, je suis vraiment très heureuse de le faire

RS : yes although people come from all over the world Australia, New Zealand, everywhere they came from everywhere for that so yeah we meet a lot of British people but they just come from everywhere it’s really quite shocking. They are talking about a convention in Australia next year that Laurel and I have been asked to do , I would love to do it.

Est- ce que le nombre de coming out a explosé à Swindon ? ( Rachel Shelley est originaire de cette petite ville d'Angleterre ?

Has the number of ‘coming out’ gone up in Swindon ? (Rachel Shelley lives in this little town in England)

Rachel Shelley : (rires), je ne sais pas , peut-être ? J'en ai pas la moindre idée, je ne suis pas vraiment sûre de l'effet L word en Angleterre. La série a été diffusée sur la chaîne Living, la première année, puis ça s'est arrêté. Qui s'est , cela peut encore être diffusé sur les chaînes hertziennes, tout le monde pourra la voir

RS : (laughs) I don’t know, maybe. I don’t have the slightest idea, I’m not sure of the effect of the L Word in the UK. The show has been shown on the Living channel, the first year and after that it stopped. Who knows, maybe it will be shown on the regular channels everyone can see

J'imagine que tu te fais tout le temps interpeller dans la rue par les fans

I imagine you’re constantly recognized in the streets by the fans?

Rachel Shelley : parfois oui. Si je suis apprêtée comme je le suis ce matin, cheveux lavés et coiffés, maquillée, on me reconnaît plus. En général, je m'attache les cheveux en arrière

RS : Sometimes yes. But I’m sure that if I’m dressed like I was this morning, hair don and make up on, they would recognize me. In general I mostly have my hair in a pony tail.

Si tu pouvais te réincarner dans une actrice britannique serait-il Vanessa Redgrave ou Catherine Tate?

If you could be reincarnated in a British actress would it be Vanessa Redgrave or Catherine Tate?

Rachel Shelley (rires) Vanessa Redgrave …. Absolument Vanessa Redgrave

RS (laughs) Vanessa Redgrave …. Definitely Vanessa Redgrave yes definitely

Quelle est votre actrice Britannique préferé ou role model?

Who is your favorite British actress? Or role model?

Rachel Shelley : role models, Je trouve cela très dur, vous voyez, je n'ai jamais été tout à fait pour des modèles mais …. Kate Winslet, elle est étonnante, elle est tout simplement incroyable, surtout en ce que l'année dernière, elle a eu, et j'ai beaucoup de respect pour elle en tant qu’actrice en general. Elle choisit des rôles incroyables, mais elle aussi n'a pas été aspiré dans cette manière de vivre d'Hollywood ou d'être vous le savez elle est sa propre personne, je lui respecte beaucoup

RS : Role models .. I find that really hard, you see I’ve never quite been for role models but Kate Winslet she’s amazing, she’s just incredible especially this last year that she’s had and I have a lot of respect for her as an actress in general, she chooses amazing roles but she also hasn’t been sucked in in this Hollywood way of living or being you know she’s her own person which I really respect

Le DVD The Children va sortir en deux jours, quels sont vos prochains projets? Quels sont vos plans après ça?

the DVD of the Children is coming out in two days so what are your projects? What are your plans after that?

Rachel Shelley : quells sont mes plan … pour vous dire la vérité ‘je suis enceinte’

RS : well … to be honest …. My plans after that ‘je suis enceinte’ I am pregnant
so my plans are …. well that’s my plan I’m nearly five months now so I’ve got this belly going on now so it’s there and I think I’m not be taking anything for quite a while. If I wasn’t pregnant I’d gone to the States because it’s the busiest time in the States right now, it’s really busy, new TV shows are casting and I would have been with all the other L Word actresses auditioning but I wasn’t going to go abroad cause I didn’t want to be away from my midwife and my partner so I’m here, well I’m in England and there’s not very much work in England but we’ll see if something comes up and it’s good and it’s something that I could do while being pregnant and if not I just watch this little thing grow

Une derniere question est’ce que le fait d’avoir jouer un lesbienne character vous a fait mieux dans le lit?

one last question did the fact you played a lesbian character make you better in bed?

Rachel Shelly (rires) : Je pense que les gens me perçoivent comme étant mieux au lit, en fait c'est très bizarre parce que comme j'ai dit à ma réputation pour être la jeune fille douce comme Mary Poppins. J’obtenais pour mon anniversaries des livres ou des sweat shirts mais après L Word les gens m’achetent des magazines, des magazines de lingerie sexy. Je n'ai pas changé, mais oui la perception a change ce qui fait partie de la bataille, je suppose

RS (laughs) : I think people perceive me as being better in bed, actually it’s very weird cause like I said my reputation used to be the sweet girl, Mary Poppins and I used to get for my Birthday like um a book or a sweatshirt and now I got L Word and so many people are buying me magazines, frisky magazines about underwear ….. I haven’t changed but yes the perception has changed which is part of the battle I suppose
